Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation (PftP), a German, youth-led initiative with the goal of planting trees against climate crisis, has a presence in 91 countries all over the world. The organization launched its U.S. activities at the United Nations Forum on Forests, in New York City on February 2, 2011. At the forum, PftP’s youth leader, Felix Finkbeiner, delivered a speech kicking off the International Year of Forests 2011.
However, prior to the forum, PftP needed a way to increase recognition in the United States, and so the organization called on Wireside Communications. With public relations support and a media outreach plan, Wireside developed custom media, blog and organization lists, and was able to secure both pro bono videographers and photographers for the New York visit, as well as a presentation for Felix at Middle School 328 in Harlem.
