Gretchen Tombes joined the Wireside team in January 2018 as Operations Manager. In her early career, she worked at a law firm, a digital media company, and a Washington DC-based think tank, where as an executive assistant, she supported the writing and publication of numerous books and dozens of articles, helped coordinate more than 30 events, interacted with researchers and scholars in the US and abroad, and served as an informal office IT troubleshooter. Since 2011, she has worked in the Chesterfield County (VA) Public Library System in several capacities.
Gretchen graduated with a BA in history and politics from Cornell College (Iowa). She also has a certificate as a Pastry Chef from L’Academie de Cuisine in Bethesda, MD, and enjoys baking (especially bread) for her family and friends. For the past 20-plus years she has been raising her four wonderful children and various pets (with the help of Jonathan Tombes).
